Haus Musik, The Classical Alternative

Haus Musik, Toronto’s new alternative classical night,  returns to The Great Hall with a very special show.

When NASA sent the Voyager probe into deep space, they loaded it with the best of humankind, including some music, just in case any aliens found it and wanted to, you know, take a listen. They included Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Stravinsky, some brainwaves and, er, Chuck Berry.

Now, Haus Musik is going one better, bringing this spirit of unearthly discovery to life in The Great Hall’s Longboat Hall. Live baroque music by the likes of Henry Purcell and King Henry VIII, no less, rubs shoulders with the outer limits. Adventure ensues as we experience the world around us for the first time through the eyes of the recently awoken Leeka, a curious and vivacious young woman from a galaxy far away.

Be transported by sounds of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra along side galactic baroque-inspired electronics by Acote, as Leeka makes sense of the world around her.

(There will probably be some teaspoons as well.)
