Kouraba World Music Festival 2016

The Kouraba World Music Festival 2016 edition Concert of the Musical Masters at The Great Hall has been inspired by the Malinké (West Africa) saying, “Yelema Flé.” “Yelema” means, change/transformation and “Flé” means watch/witness.

“No bands, no entourages, headliners only!”
Kouraba’s 4th year will feature international music masters and apprentices of the world music genre playing together live for the first time anywhere, including, among others:
Amara Kanté  drumming (Ivory Coast & Republic of Guinea)
Ravi Naimpally tabla (India)
Abdoulaye Traore guitar (Burkina Faso)
Mohamed Diaby griot/vocalist (Mali)
Odel Johnson drummer (Jamaica)
Aline Morales singer/percussionist (Brazil)
Bruce Skerritt keyboards (St. Kitts)

Conceived by world renowned Malinké Master Percussionist/Artistic Director Amara Kante and the multi-talented, Nigerian-born Canadian Artist/Producer Rachael Eluan Abah, Kouraba Toronto is a showcase of world music and dance innovation, homage to master artists, a celebration of traditional art forms, and an incubator for cross-cultural dialogue. The Kouraba World Music Festival brings together and promotes music from across cultures to present a unified voice to an often divided audience.
